Eurocamp 2012

 

Coaching Staff confirmed as attending Eurocamp 2012 in Barrow are:-

 

laszlo    Head Coach, Dr Laszlo Nemeth (Hungary)

 Laszlo has been Head Coach at Eurocamp since it opened in 1998.  Laszlo has huge experience as a  performance and excellence coach, but also worked as a Phys. Ed. teacher and Head of Physical Education Department in Hungary and Kuwait's Modern American Private School. He graduated as Physical Education teacher (MA), Senior Coach  (Bsc), Doctorate from Training Methodology at Hungarian University for Physical Education (HUPE) Budapest.

He has coached Premier Division basketball teams in five different countries - winning national titles in four - and coached three different Senior Men National Teams around the globe including England between 1994-2004. He was involved in Olympic Games, Asian Games, Universiade, Games of Small Nations, Pan Arab Championships, European and World Championships, Gulf Championships, Scandinavian Championship. He brings a wealth of experience to Eurocamp from the competitive end of sport. 

Laszlo is the author of the book Basketball published by Crowood press in the skills of the games series. He runs coach education courses for National Governing Bodies around the world. His last appearances were in Denmark, Sweden and Saudi Arabia. He lectured performance and excellence coaching at UCLAN for undergraduates at their final year and also runs basic level one courses for Phys ED teachers in the Home Countries.

 

Nick O\\'Leary  Coach Nick O'Leary (England)

 Nick is a veteran Eurocamp Coach, currently Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Physical Education at the University of Wolverhampton.  He is currently studying for a Doctorate in Education (University of Bath) researching the teaching of games.

Nick is an England Basketball Senior Coach (Level 4), an England Basketball Coach Tutor and an Executive Officer to the Basketball Coaches Association.  His coaching experience extends from mens National Divisions 1 through to 3, National League junior teams and University teams.  He is currently the Technical Director at Birmingham Athletics Basketball Club.

Nick holds coaching qualifications in a further 12 sports.

Nick is the only remaining hired Coach from our first year in 1998 which makes him the longest serving Eurocamp coach.  Click on his picture to read an article penned by Nick remembering his time at that first Barrow Eurocamp.

 

Jason Swaine  Coach Jason Swaine (England)

Jason won 24 full England caps from 1995 - 2000 and has a 22 year career in the EBL and BBL with winners medals for Sheffield Sharks in the BBL in 1995. After playing for Chester Jets in the BBL, Jason played 4 years for Teesside Mohawks, gaining winners medals for EBL Division 1 three times and the National Trophy 4 times. Jason has played for Huddersfield Heat and Sheffield Sabres since 2003 and was EBL division 4 player of the year and top scorer in the division for the 2010/11 season. Jason first coached at Barrow in 2011 but has been involved with Bradford Eurocamp for several years. 

 

billb Coach Bill Baddeley (USA)

 USA based Bill has been a regular at Eurocamp for many years and is without doubt one of the campers favourites.  Bill is a former coach at Ida Grove High School, North Dakota State University, Independence High School, University of Wisconsin Whitewater and Carroll High School, Iowa.  Bill brings with him years of coaching experience and is a seasoned camp veteran.  Only a few people know this, but Bill is also President of the Boston Celtics International Fan Club!

 

Gustavo Garcia  Coach Gustavo Garcia (Spain)

Coach Garcia joins us from Spain where he holds the highest level coaching award possible in that Country.  He has coached at the Real Madrid Basketball School as well as a host of other Spanish Federation clubs.  Gustavo has worked on Five Star camps, Basketball Scotland camp and was on the team for Eurocamp for the first time in 2011.

 

Marilyn Rule Coach Marilyn Rule (USA)

Barrow Eurocamp 2012 is delighted to confirm the attendance of USA based Coach Marilyn Rule.  From 1998 to 2010 Marilyn was Head Women's Coach of the NCAA Division 2 womens team at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She is currently Assistant Athletic Director at J.P. Taravella High School and PE Teacher.

Marilyn has 12 years of playing experience including Florida Southern College and Florida Atlantic University.

She has 20 years of coaching experience and an enviable record of basketball coach acheivements which include:-

Coach Rule is undoubtedly an excellent addition to an already vastly experienced coaching line up for 2012.

 

coach faisal butressli 6 Coach Faisal Buressli (Kuwait)

Faisal is another new face at Eurocamp Barrow for 2012 and we welcome him to the UK.  Coach Buressli has a long career as a National team player at junior and senior level and was a member of the Kuwaiti senior mens team coached by our very own Coach Nemeth.   He was offered 6 Scholorships to play in the NCAA leagues in the USA.

His coaching career spans many years and in 2010 he was Head Coach of the Kuwait senior mens team.  He has held many Head Coaching positions at both senior and junior level, Internationally and on the club scene.  Amongst his acheivements so far are:-

Kuwait Coach of the Year 2007, 2008 and 2009

Head Coach to the Gulf Championship winning Kuwait Youth National Team

Head Coach to numerous Championship winning junior club teams.

 

albena branzova Coach Albena Branzova (Bulgaria)

We are delighted to welcome back Coach Albena Branzova for the 2012 camp. She is currently Head Coach of Women's basketball at the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada and is undertaking a PhD in sports psychology. Albena was a top European female player, representing Bulgaria from 1992 to 2010 and was the leading scorer in Euroleague in 2002/3. She has played professionally in a number of countries around the world and led her clubs to national championships in Hungary 6 times between 2002 and 2008. Whilst at Florida International University [FIU] between 1991 and 1995, she was made the Associated Press All American Player of the Year in 1995 and was inducted into the FIU Hall of Fame as the leader in FIU history for career points (2515pts); career rebounds (1092rbs); field goals made; field goal percentage (60.7%); 3 point field goal percentage (41.6%); career blocked shots (250) and is second in scoring average (20.3pts/game) and free throws percentage (81%). Albena is a fantastic role model for any aspiring female [or male] player who wants to improve their game.
